L’amore è spesso un campo di battaglia, una lotta tra sé stessi e il mondo che ci circonda. L’amore è un insieme di sentimenti incontrollabili, che rende l’aria magica.
L’amore, in tutte le sue forme, è un luogo in cui ogni cosa diventa poesia. Spesso. A volte. Quasi sempre.
Oggi però vi parlerò di un romanzo in cui l’amore diventa quasi impossibile, e si vorrebbe cancellarlo via, per essere almeno, o in poca misura, più felici. Sto parlando di “Me enamoré de un sacerdote”, edito nel Guatemala, dell’autrice Grethel Sazo.
La storia sembra essere una storia come tante: due persone che si incontrano, si innamorano e desiderano trascorrere il resto della loro vita insieme. … sarebbe così se lui non indossasse un abito che rappresenta per quella storia un limite. Sacerdote – lui – quasi per costrizione, Ana e Adrìan si incontrano di sfuggita, nascondendosi dal resto del mondo e costruendo un luogo diverso, un luogo che conoscono solamente loro. L’autrice fugge da una realtà in cui siamo proiettati, per parlarci di un amore che supera i confini e resta nella penombra. Un amore improvviso, e un amore impossibile. Ciò che resta al lettore è il coraggio di credere e di sperare che qualcuno, prima o poi, sia capace di prenderci per mano e salvarci dal buio in cui siamo sempre stati, per scoprire così la luce dell’amore. E sarà un amore vero, senza sguardi nascosti.
Ora lascio la parola a Grethel Sazo, con l’augurio di proseguire in questo meraviglioso percorso.
D: Come nasce l’idea di questo romanzo?
R: L’idea di questo romanzo è nata perché un po’ di anni fa mi sono innamorata di un samaritano. Successivamente, ho iniziato a scoprire altre storie di donne che si erano innamorate di preti o samaritani, e mi sono resa conto che erano davvero molte. Dalla mia storia e quella di altre donne, ho creato un’unica storia che ha dato vita a questo romanzo d’amore.
D: Tra i temi principali possiamo riscontrare l’amore che porta ad un cambiamento. Quanto, secondo te, l’amore può cambiare una persona?
R: Quando qualcuno si innamora completamente, questa persona può subire vari cambiamenti nella sua vita. Quando ci si innamora della persona giusta, i cambiamenti sono buoni perché si scambiano qualcosa entrambi. È questo lo scopo dell’amore: cambiarci in meglio e porci verso nuove strade. L’amore è movimento, è azione; certo, può cambiarci, ma in meglio, altrimenti non è amore.
D: Cosa pensi riguardo la religione e i valori ecclesiastici legati a Dio?
R: Per me, più che gli aspetti religiosi, è più importante avere un legame con Dio. Ciascuno, può avere una connessione speciale con lui, che è colui che ha creato i valori e i credo in ciascuno.
D: C’è un motivo per il quale hai deciso di parlare di una storia fuori dal comune? Credi negli amori impossibili?
R: Tutti, ad un punto della loro vita, hanno avuto un amore impossibile. Ci sono amori che non sono mai divenuti reali per qualche ragione, ma in quel momento l’amore ci ha fatto sognare, volare e fatto sentire vivi. Non credo negli amori impossibili, credo negli amori che possono non realizzarsi. Le cose accadono sempre per una ragione, e molte volte è importante imparare dalle lezioni; tutto accade per il nostro bene alla fine.
D: Come definiresti la relazione tra Ana e Adrian?
R: La loro relazione è passionale in ogni modo; sono connessi e nati per stare insieme. Si sono innamorati dal primo momento che si sono visti. Sono migliori amici, amanti, non sono perfetti, ma la cosa più importante è il loro amore autentico. Entrambi si trovano in situazioni complicate, ma il loro amore è così forte e vero, che niente e nessuno può impedire loro di stare insieme.
D: La scelta è un altro tema fondamentale presente nel tuo libro. L’amore può essere, secondo te, più forte di ogni razionalità?
R: La razionalità è importante, deve andare pari passo con l’amore. Ma nelle questioni di cuore, la maggior parte delle volte, ci sono cose di cui non ci si rende conto al momento, per questa ragione bisogna ascoltare e analizzare tutto quello che il cuore ci dice. Perciò penso che qualche volta, l’amore è più forte della razionalità, ma qualche volta no, dipende dalla situazione.
D: Ci sono somiglianze tra te e Ana?
R: Si, le differenze sono che Ana è più socievole di me, è più estroversa, io non lo sono molto. Le somiglianze sono che entrambe amiamo il mare, siamo passionali e intense nei confronti della vita e delle emozioni, siamo sognatrici e autentiche, e entrambe, quando amiamo, lo facciamo con tutto il cuore.
D: Cosa vuoi trasmettere al lettore?
R: Voglio che il lettore capisca il valore dei suoi sogni, e comprenda che è bello essere sé stessi. Non importa ciò che gli altri dicano, la cosa importante è essere felici. Voglio che i lettori capiscano che non bisogna avere paura dell’amore perché la vita è corta, dobbiamo amare. Dobbiamo godere il presente e apprezzare ciò che abbiamo. Questo è vivere intensamente.
D: Quali sono i tuoi futuri progetti in merito alla promozione del libro?
R: Il libro sarà tradotto in altre lingue, così persone di altre parti del mondo potranno leggerlo. E perché no, mi piacerebbe che il libro diventasse un film, dato il riscontro positivo che il libro sta ottenendo in tutto il mondo.

Love is always a battlefield, a fight with ourselves and the world around us. Love is a mix of feelings without reason, which makes the air magical.
Love in every way is a place where everything becomes poetry.
Always.
Sometimes.
Almost always.
Today I’m going to talk about a novel where love become almost impossible, a love to delete, to be at least, a bit happy. I’m talking about “Me enamorè de un sacerdote”,published in Guatemala, by the writer Grethel Sazo. The story seems like others: two persons meet each other, fall in love and dream to stay the rest of their lives together. It would be like this if he didn’t wear a dress that represents a limit for that story. He’s a priest. Ana and Adrian meet quickly, hiding by the rest of the world, building a different place, that they only know. The writer escape from a reality where they are prohected, to talk about a love that cross the borders and stay to darkness. Suddenly love, impossible love. To the reader stay the courage to believe and hope that someone, before or after, can take our hand and can save us from the darkness in which we have always been, to discover the light of love.
And it’ll be a true love, without hidden glances.

Q: How was the idea of this novel born?
A: The idea of this novel was born, because a few years ago I fell in love with a seminarian. After that, I began to investigate stories of other women who had fallen in love with priest or seminarians, and I realized that they were many women. From my story and the stories of other women, I created a single story which resulted in a romantic novel.
Q: Among the main themes that you use, we can find the love that leads to a change. How much love can change a person, for you?
A: When someone falls completely in love, that person is able to make many changes in their life. When you fall in love with the right person, the changes are good because they both have to give in to some things. And it is what love does, change us to be better, challenge us in many ways. Love is movement, love is action, of course love can change us in positive aspects, if it is not, it is not love.
Q: What do you think about religion and ecclasistic values, connected to God?
A: For me, more than the religious aspects, the main thing is to have a relationship with God. Anyone, can have a special connection with him, which causes a person to have their own beliefs and values.
Q: Is there a reason why you talk about a story out of the charts? Do you believe in impossible loves?
A: Everyone at some point in our lives, we have had some impossible love. We had some love that could never be realized for some reason, but in the moment that love made us dream, made us fly, and made us feel alive. I do not believe in impossible loves, I believe in loves that were not mean to be. Things always happen for a reason, sometimes to learn important life lessons, in the end everything happens for good.
Q: How can you define the relationship between Ana e Adrìan?
A: The relationship between them is, passionate in every way, they are really connected since it is as if, they were born to be together. They fell in love from the first moment they met. They are best friends, they are lovers, they are not perfect, but the important thing is that, it is an authentic love. They both go through complicated situations, but their love is so real and so intense, that nothing and nobody can stop them to be together.
Q: The choice is another main theme that we can find in your book. Is the love stronger than every rationality, for you?
A: Reasoning is really important, it has to go hand in hand with love. But most of the time, when you are deeply in love, there are many things that you can not see at that moment, for that reason you have to listen and analyze what your heart says. So I think that sometimes, love is stronger than rationality, and sometimes is not, depends of the situation.
Q: Are there any differences and similarities between Ana and you?
A: Yes, the differences are that, Ana is more sociable than me, she is extroverted and Im not so much. The smililitudes are that we both love the sea, both are very passionate and intense with life and with feelings, we are dreamers and authentic, and both, when we love, we do it with all the heart.
Q: What you want to send to the reader?
A: I want the reader to relive his dreams, to realize that it is good to be himself. No matter what other people say, people have to do what makes them happy. I want the reader to realize that we should not be afraid of love cause life is too short, we must love. It is about enjoying what we have today in life, to appreciate what we have. It is about feeling life intensely.
Q: What are your future projects about the promotion of your book?
A: In the medium term, the book will be translated into different languages, so people around the world will continue to enjoy it. And why not, I would like to see the book become a movie, Since the book has had very good acceptance all over the world…
