Oggi sarà la prima volta che il mio occhio da lettrice varcherà il confine per raggiungere un luogo oltre oceano. Il Guatemala, precisamente.
Sono sempre stata affascinata dalla letteratura straniera, e dal mio desiderio di sperimentare altre culture raccontate da penne che non sono nel mio territorio. Dunque, sono felice di parlarvi oggi di una giovane e talentuosa scrittrice centro-americana che, con un romanzo sorprendente, ha saputo soddisfare tutte le mie aspettative.
Il suo nome è Valentina Sazo e il suo libro, appena pubblicato, si chiama “La persona de tus sueños”.
Un romanzo che rappresenta un misto di curiosità e passione, fino a raggiungere piccole sfumature di romanticismo.
Un romanticismo descritto in modo tenue e leggero, quasi come una piuma; che rappresenta quindi l’amore. E’ proprio l’amore il vero protagonista della storia: un amore diverso e, proprio per questo, di forte intensità. Un amore che salva e che raggiunge il bisogno di sognare ancora, nonostante tutto.
Mathias vive in un mondo quasi crudele, una realtà da cui vorrebbe scappare, fondata su un destino predestinato che costruisce corpi tralasciando anime.
Una realtà messa ancor più in pericolo a causa di un virus, capace di distruggere l’intero genere umano. E’ questa la realtà, la sua realtà. Una realtà che però diventerà ben diversa nei suoi sogni, l’unico luogo in cui può essere davvero felice, in cui l’amore è capace di prenderlo tra le mani e condurlo in un nuovo Paradiso.
Un conflitto, dunque. Un continuo conflitto che fa da sfondo alla storia: quello tra sogno e realtà. Una lotta descritta in modo leggera e delicata, a tratti esplicita, fino a diventare un grido che proviene dall’anima dei personaggi, alla continua ricerca di trovare un equilibrio per questa battaglia che attanaglia i loro cuori.
Il romanzo è quindi un thriller che, con sfumature romanzesche, è capace di sorprendere il lettore lasciandogli, alla fine della lettura, la sensazione di avere quasi un inno alla vita e al vero amore, l’incontro con un’anima gemella che, sebbene riesca ad apparire solo nei sogni in modo del tutto perfetto, può presentarsi improvvisamente nella realtà e dinnanzi ad occhi che, prima di quel momento, avevano combattuto una continua lotta con il mondo.
Lascio la parola a Valentina, augurandole di continuare in questo meraviglioso percorso.
D: Come nasce l’idea di questo libro?
R: Ho fatto qualche sogno dove c’era lo stesso ragazzo. Quando ci ho parlato è stato come se ci conoscessimo da tempo. Avevo sentimenti speciali che mi legavano a lui. Ricordo come era bello stargli accanto e vedere i suoi occhi. Poi, mia sorella minore scrisse un libro non conoscendo la mia passione per la scrittura. Dopo che mi regalò il suo romanzo per il mio compleanno, decisi di scriverne uno anche io.
D: Ciò che si evince è la continua lotta dei protagonisti tra sogno e realtà. Quanto questo conflitto è presente in te?
R: Loro combattono con la società, mettendo la loro vita a rischio. Nei sogni, loro combattono con un altro mondo dove ci sono due parti. Una parte li aiuta cercando di unirli permettendo di stare loro insieme, la parte buia li vuole definitivamente dividere. Devono combattere, quindi, con questi due mondi per raggiungere i loro sogni e stare con la propria anima gemella, e non con il partner che era stato scelto per loro.
D: Quanto questo conflitto influenza la nostra sopravvivenza? C’è un modo per abbatterlo?
R: Questo conflitto è all’ordine del giorno, solo pochi raggiungono quello che desiderano. Non è un compito semplice farlo, ci vuole fegato. Possiamo abbatterlo facendo quello che amiamo, quello che rende la nostra anima felice.
D: Il tuo libro parla di un mondo futuro e di un virus che affligge il genere umano. Durante la stesura, è stato difficile raccontare di un mondo fantascientifico che in realtà non esiste, come il mondo futuro?
R: E’ stata una sfida, ho voluto che i lettori viaggiassero con il tempo e lo spazio, rendendoli appartenenti a questo mondo. Se viaggiassimo verso un nuovo posto, o se potessimo viaggiare con il tempo, ci sono cose che resterebbero sempre impresse nell’essere umano; non importa la cultura o il tempo, importerebbe solo la famiglia, gli obiettivi e il potere.
D: Credi nell’anima gemella e credi possiamo trovarla nel mondo dei sogni?
R: Si, ciascuno di noi ha un’anima gemella, e probabilmente tutti hanno sperimentato un sogno con la propria. Forse non ricordiamo il sogno. Probabilmente tutti hanno sognato una persona che non hanno mai incontrato, e si sono innamorati di questa persona senza sapere il perché. L’anima gemella completa la nostra anima, e se le incontrassimo dovremmo onorarla, come loro dovrebbero onorare noi.
D: Come definisci il legame tra Mathias e la ragazza dei suoi sogni?
R: Loro sono due potenti anime gemelle, che non potrebbero esistere senza la presenza reciproca. Le loro anime trovano una strada nel sogno che li farà stare nuovamente insieme.
D: Qual è stata la sensazione che hai provato quando hai scritto l’ultima pagina del tuo libro?
R: Ho avuto la sensazione, che in questo libro i miei pensieri fossero venuti fuori come una pioggia torrenziale, che si è posata sulle pagine del mio romanzo come la pioggia su una foresta che rinfresca l’ambiente. Ho provato molta gratitudine.
D: Cosa vorresti trasmettere ai lettori?
R: Mi piacerebbe che i lettori capissero ciò che realmente vogliono, non quello che la società desidera per loro. Come decidere chi devi sposare, che carriera devi seguire, o di chi dovrai essere amico. Noi umani dimentichiamo di essere mortali, e dobbiamo seguire quello che il cuore ci suggerisce. Basta pensare alla società! La società resterà per secoli, noi no.

Today it will be the first time that my reader’s eyes will cross the border to reach a overseas place, the Guatemala. I was always fascinating by foreigner literature, and my desire to test other cultures told by places that aren’t mine.
Today I’m going to talk about a young and talented central-american writer that, with her amazing novel, has known how to satisfy all of my expectations.
Her name is Valentina Sazo and she just published a book called “La persona de tu Sueños”.
In this novel, she presents a mix of curiosity and passion, reaching little romantic shades, described in a slim and light way, like a feather; everything represent love. Love is the main character of the story: a different love and, for this reason, really intense. Love that saves and that reach the needs to still dream, despite of everything.
Mathias live in a cruel world, a reality that he wants to escape, based by a predestinate fate, that builds bodies and leaves souls. A reality put in danger by a virus that can destroy the human beings. This is the reality, this is his reality. A reality that will be different in his dreams, the only place where he can be really happy, where love can take in his hands and take him to another paradise.
A fighting.
A constant fighting that is the background of the story: the fighting between dream and reality.
A fighting described in a light and delicate way, explicit in some point, to become a scream of the soul of the characters, to the continuous searching of their hearts.
The novel is a thriller, with romantic shades, that can surprise the reader and give him, at the end of the reading, the sensation to have an anthem of life and true love, meeting with their soulmates that, despite appear only in dreams in a perfect way, can presents suddenly in reality. So, we have fight a continue fighting with the world, to meet the real love.

Q: How was the idea of this book born?
A: I’ve had very few dreams with the same boy. When I talk to him, I feel like I’ve known him for a long time. And have a special feeling for him. I can only remember the nice it feels being next to him and his eyes. Then my youngest sister wrote a book and she ignites my love for writing. After she gave me a book of her own, for my birthday I decided I wanted to write too.
Q: What emerges is the constant struggle of the main characters between dreams and reality. How much this struggle is in you?
A: They struggle with society, putting their lives in risk. In dreams, they struggle with another world where there are two sides. One side helps them so they can be together, and the dark side wants to separate them forever. So they have to fight with two worlds, to reach their dreams and to be together with their soul mate, not their chip mate that society has chosen for them.
Q: How much this struggle affect in our surviving? For you, is there a way to defeat it ?
A: We struggle with this on a daily basis, very few follow what they really want. And that is not an easy task, it takes a lot of guts to do it. We can defeat it following what we like to do, what makes our soul happy.
Q: Your book talks about a future world and a virus that threat human beings. During the elaboration, was it difficult talking about a time fiction that doesn’t exist in reality, like future time?
A: It was challenging, because I wanted the readers to travel to that time, and space and also to make them feel like they can relate to this other world. If we travel to another country or if we could travel to another time; there are things that will always remain in the human beings no matter the culture or time, like: Love, family, goals, power…
Q: Do you believe in twin soul and do you think that we can find her in dream’s world?
A: Yes, we have soul mates and maybe all of us have experienced a dream with our soul mates. Maybe we don´t remember the dream. Maybe we all have had a dream with someone who we have never met, and we feel love towards this person without knowing why´. Soul mates complement our soul, and if we find them we must cherish them and the soul mate will cherish you back.
Q: How you’d define the connection between Mathias and the girl of his dreams?
A: I will define the connection, as two powerful soul mates, that could not stand being a part of each other. And then their souls find a way thru their dreams, to be together again.
Q: Which was the sensation that you feel after finishing the last page of your book?
A: I had the sensation, that for this book all the thoughts that came like pouring rain were finally resting on this beautiful novel like rains rests on a forest leaving a fresh smell of calm. I also had a lot of gratitude.
Q: What do you want to transmit to the reader?
A: I want the readers to stop settling for less, and start looking for what they really want, not for what the society wants. Like deciding who you are going to marry, what career you will follow, or who you are going to be friends with. We as human beings, forget that we are mortal and we should follow what the heart is telling us… Stop pleasing society, society will remain for ages, we won`t.
